The evening’s educational program will focus on the intersection of divorce and estate planning. In particular, family law, estate and incapacity planning, the CMR, and public policy all intersect and interact when a divorcing spouse has a medical condition making the need for long-term care likely. This program will focus on the creative, strategic, and ethical aspects of gifting, use of trusts and annuities, and other ways to preserve marital assets, navigate Medicaid regulations, and balance the interests of the ill spouse, the healthy spouse, and the Commonwealth. Lisa Cukier of Burns & Levinson will moderate an esteemed panel, including the Honorable Jennifer M. Allen of the Middlesex County Probate and Family Court, the Honorable Lee M. Peterson of the Norfolk County Probate and Family Court, Steven E. Gurdin, Esq. of Fitch Law Partners, LLP, Joshua S. Tracey, Esq. of Tracey, Roman & Ramos, P.C. and Debra Silberstein, Esq. of Burns & Levinson.
